Boys. Night. Out.

We came in hoodies and t-shirts. And we wouldn’t have had it any other way. The agenda was the same every time: spend the grocery money on Golden Tee and however many beers they would serve us before bar close. This tiny portion of the world was ours. It was guys’ night. And back in the day, it was always identifiable by one thing—eight dudes that had clearly rolled off the couch and into the bar without a second thought.

It was easy to take those nights, as well as what we wore to them, for granted back then. There wasn’t much to do besides hang out with the guys. Now, it’s a much bigger deal. Time that was once free is now usurped by families, careers, and grown-up responsibilities. A night out with the guys has become a special occasion. Dress like it.

“Come as you are” is no longer sufficient. The babysitter, the partner out of town, and the canceled work trip all aligned for a reason. Look the part this time. Yes, the game will still be on. You’ll still get your chance to embarrass yourself at the dartboard. Just leave the gym clothes at home.

Need some inspiration for what to wear to grown-up guys’ night? We dressed up a multitude of body types in our favorite looks for a night with the guys.

Roy body type (shown left) is wearing textured cotton woven with a banded collar from Zara. This woven is the perfect combination of a dressy look made casual by a loose and comfortable fit.

Another look, perfect for a Ted body type (shown middle) wearing a white oxford from J. Crew, topped with a Moleskin Shacket from Relwen. A white oxford is a wardrobe essential that goes with virtually anything, and shackets are a great layering piece for Fall, Winter, and early Spring.

Finally, a great look for a Jamie body type is a stretch cotton 1MX woven from Express. The floral print makes a dressy look feel casual and fun and is perfect for a night out with the boys.
