FALL TREND: MEN’S SWEATERS WE LOVE

It’s time to rethink the second fall layer. Allow us to set the scene. It’s early October, your shorts are put away, and, as much as you love it, it’s too cold to survive on just the essential black tee . You’ve swapped it for your favorite Oxfords or wovens for most of fall, but now…winter is coming.

What you’d really like to do is call your ex and get your old hoodie back. It was washed and worn in all the right places and she took it, but you probably deserved that. But damned if you don’t still miss it. It was yours, it was comfortable, and it was the perfect fit.

It’s time to reimagine how relaxation looks. Colder weather calls for a do-all garment with the coziness of that old “U of…” sweatshirt (don’t call her, she probably burned it), the right fit for your current body, and the flexibility to hop off the couch to grab more beer for the Friendsgiving crew.

This is where sweaters fit into your wardrobe. You never know when the occasion will arise and if you stay ready, you won’t have to worry about it.

Sweaters are an important trend since we’re all slowly getting off the couch and stepping up our wardrobes to re-enter society. Our group of guys loved the many different styles, weights, and colors that retailers have put together for winter. There are several designs in play right now to elevate you for every occasion. Feel free to pair with jeans, dress pants, joggers, or chinos; they all work.

Here’s what our boys are saying.

“I love being outdoors. It’s my happy place. My whole wardrobe is built around getting outside, and as a proud Minnesotan, there’s no such thing as too cold. Cardigans are a regular part of my rotation because they’re the perfect thing to throw on when I’m transitioning from being outside to sitting down for dinner. This cardigan from LL Bean is one of my faves because it’s thick and warm and goes with just about everything.” – A Nathan

“I’m usually pretty casual, but this time of year, I’m ready to take it up a notch and remind everyone that I can look pretty fly, too. I love the shawl-collar sweater from Old Navy because it pairs perfectly with dress pants and a nice shirt. It’s about as dressed up as it can get without popping on that tie and suit coat, but I still feel so comfortable.” – An Issac

“I’ll be honest, I don’t wear too many sweaters. But lately, I’ve wanted to expand my closet’s horizons. The quarter-zip sweater from LL Bean is awesome because it works for almost any occasion. I usually wear it with just a t-shirt underneath, and I look appropriately dressed in almost any room.” – A Jamie (left)

“I’ll admit it—I’m slightly obsessed with Banana Republic sweaters. They do a great job of offering multiple styles in a variety of fabrics and prices. Last night, the wife and I finally had a night out with another couple. I immediately reached for a lightweight Italian merino crew sweater from BR. I’m confident I had the softest sweater in the room.” – A Ted (right)

“I’m a casual guy and nothing beats a lightweight sweater in winter. It fits just about every occasion and I love that I can layer on top, I can layer underneath, or I can just wear it by itself. The H&M crew sweater is my go-to right now. You can’t beat the butter-soft fabric or the low price point.” – A Roy
