Girls. Night. Out.
Has getting dressed up for a girls’ night out ever sounded better than after a year of working in sweatpants from the couch? Not only does it afford us an opportunity to reconnect with friends but GNO is the perfect time to debut a new purchase. Unlike when you try out a new trend on date night and the SO gives you crap all night long. The girls just get it. We’re dressing up for other women, not for guys. And let’s admit it—it also gives us the chance to shop each other’s closets and mentally plan what we’re going to borrow for the next girls’ night.
Mostly, it’s a chance to wear whatever makes you feel best and most excited about your look. From satin midi skirts to statement jackets, heels to sneakers, faux leather to denim, there are no rules. Except have fun and stay out too late. So we did just that. We got some of our favorite ladies together, played dress up, and got glammed up. Hear what they had to say about the looks they loved.
You might not notice the subtle detailing at play that makes this midi sweater dress flattering on Becca’s body type but it’s there. The puff sleeves and large back bow detail highlight her upper body and how it tapers at the shoulders. It’s fun details like this that take the outfit from everyday to GNO status. It’s a perfect fit for her hourglass shape, allowing her to naturally fill out the look instead of it wearing her.
Our second Becca body type of the night is wearing what might seem to be an unexpected combination: a sleek, one-shoulder-style bodysuit, an oversize blazer, and high-waisted, loose-fit jeans. The high-low glamour of the outfit is perfect for a night that might take her anywhere from cocktails to the mechanical bull. (Hey, you never know.) And the outfit is perfectly suited to her shape. The fitted top and the waist of the jeans fit her figure, showing it off. To further flatter her waistline, she can tie the belt on the blazer. It’s a perfectly balanced look that remains interesting and stylish.
Keelie shows off another way the high-low look can be done. Faux-leather pants scream dressy while an oversized, plaid shacket can be thrown on over a sweatshirt. But they work together to make the outfit more versatile and prove that you can be comfortable no matter the occasion! Plus, the high-waisted pants with a loose fit shacket (that looks great on anyone) flatter her inverted triangle shape.
We stan a fun print, especially for girls’ night, and this star coat fits the bill. To achieve the look, seek out a classic silhouette with an attention-getting detail like a unique print, fabric, or design feature. Carrie paired hers with faux-leather leggings that highlight her amazing legs and contrast the coat in a balanced way.
Speaking of coats, a wrap coat, like Evie is wearing, is an effortless layer for winter. It can be worn open or tied, emphasizing the best of any figure, especially Evie’s pear shape. A bias-cut silky skirt serves the same purpose. It hugs her hips and booty and drapes over her legs achieving a flattering effect. Pair one with anything from a cropped or tucked sweater to a cami to a dressy blouse, like this puff-sleeve one.
When girls’ night is this fun, why stop at just one? Check out more outfit inspiration below and tell us what your go-to night-out look is in the comments! Cheers!
